Scope note
Refers to watermarks showing three thicknesses in the same sheet of paper, created by depressing or raising portions of the mold wiring or even by placing a bas-relief image in the mold, giving the effect of sculpture in the paper. Seen through light, the paper shows portions both lighter and darker than the paper substance itself.
